A 24-year-old boxer was murdered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, after being chased by a gang, while his friend, who attempted to intervene, was seriously injured.
Danush, a resident of Triplicane in Chennai, was an accomplished boxer who had represented Tamil Nadu in several competitions. He was preparing for police recruitment exams but was involved in an altercation in his locality two weeks ago, which led to charges against him.
On Wednesday night, a gang surrounded Danush while he was standing near his home. When he tried to escape after they began attacking him, they chased him down and hacked him to death. His friend Arun tried to stop the assailants but was also attacked and sustained serious injuries.
The Ice House Police arrived at the scene, took possession of Danush’s body and sent it to Royapettah Government Hospital for post-mortem examination. Arun, who suffered a deep gash on his neck, is currently undergoing treatment.
