With just four days to go for the 76th Republic Day, tableaux from 16 states and union territories, along with those representing 10 ministries were previewed for the first time before the grand parade on Kartavya Path in New Delhi on January 26.
The array of vibrant tableaux, celebrating the rich cultural heritage and achievements of India have been selected after an intensive selection process.
A total of 31 tableaux will feature in a glittering Republic Day parade this year. Uttar Pradesh has created a scene of the Maha Kumbh in its tableau with the ‘Samudra Manthan’ (the churning of the cosmic ocean) and sages taking a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj.
Gujarat will be celebrating its industrial progress with semiconductors and the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue. Also, Ministry of Rural Development’s focus on “Lakhpati Didi” is another standout feature.
UTTAR PRADESH’S MAHA KUMBH TABLEAU
The Uttar Pradesh tableau draws attention to the spiritual and cultural significance of the Maha Kumbh, the largest religious congregation in the world. The tableau portrays sages and the mythical Samudra Manthan, symbolising the quest for divine nectar and enlightenment.
The design and imagery capture the grandeur of the Maha Kumbh, which is not only a religious event but also a testament to India’s centuries-old tradition.
GUJARAT TO CELEBRATE PROGRESS AND INNOVATION
Gujarat’s tableau showcases the state’s remarkable strides in industrial and technological innovation. The attraction is the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue, honouring Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Alongside, the tableau highlights Gujarat’s contributions to the semiconductor industry, the production of C-295 aircraft, and its status as an industrial hub driving India’s progress.
The depiction of these elements underscores Gujarat’s vision for blending heritage with modernity. From the grandeur of the Statue of Unity to cutting-edge advancements in aerospace and semiconductors, the tableau symbolizes the state’s pivotal role in India’s development story.
MINISTRY OF RURAL DEVELOPMENT HIGHLIGHTS “LAKHPATI DIDI”
The Ministry of Rural Development will be presenting an inspiring tableau focusing on “Lakhpati Didi,” a term representing rural women who have achieved financial independence and stability through Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
The tableau celebrates these women entrepreneurs who, through government initiatives like the National Rural Livelihood Mission, have transformed their lives and contributed to rural development.
Brightly coloured tableau will be depicting SHG activities such as handicraft, dairy farming, and small-scale industries.
CULTURAL DIVERSITY AND ACHIEVEMENT
The Republic Day Parade will also feature tableaux from other states and ministries, showcasing a blend of India’s cultural heritage and its journey of progress. Rajasthan, Punjab, Delhi, Goa, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Assam and Odisha will put on display their rich heritage and achievements through their respective tableaux.
Additionally, several ministries will be highlighting the government’s achievements in technology, rural development, and defence. The inclusion of modern elements like advancements in semiconductors and defence manufacturing reflects India’s aspirations on the global stage.
