A heavily intoxicated man drove his car into a railway station premises in Karnataka’s Kolar district. The incident happened on late Sunday night (January 2) at Tyakal Railway Station, about 40 km from Kolar city, in the district.
Reportedly, the man drove the taxi, a Maruti Swift Dzire, straight onto the platform and then crashed on the railway tracks.
The driver, identified as Rakesh, was later arrested by Bangarpet Railway Police. Authorities used a crane to remove the vehicle from the tracks, preventing further disruptions.
A case was registered and investigations were underway.
Last month, a woman jumped out of a moving autorickshaw after her drunk driver veered away from the route to her destination. Her harrowing experience was shared by her husband on the social media platform X.
In another bizarre incident which happened in June 2023, a drunk man drove himself to his village using a Kalyana Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (KKRTC) bus parked nearby. Reportedly, he was tired of waiting for a state-run bus to go to his home, which never turned up.
