A truck carrying fruits overturned on NH-63 in Karnataka’s Uttara Kannada district in the early hours on Wednesday (January 22).
According to initial reports, the truck was carrying more than 30 people. The police confirmed eight deaths, so far, and rescue operations were underway.
The truck was reportedly travelling from Haveri to Kunta and it overturned between Arebail and Gullapur in the north-eastern part of Uttara Kannada.
Further details were awaited.
Last month, six people died after a container truck flipped over and crushed their car on the other side of the road, near Bengaluru.
