Tensions flared along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Sunday as a brief exchange of fire took place, security officials confirmed. No casualties or material damage were reported in the incident at the time of publishing this story.
Official sources told India Today TV that an Indian Army post in the Gulpur sector came under fire from a forested area across the LoC around 11 am. The firing originated from the Pakistani forward defensive location (FDL) at Nakkarkot, manned by the 24 AK Battalion under the 02 Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) Brigade in Rawalakot.
In response, the Indian Army retaliated with approximately 60 rounds of small arms fire towards the Pakistani FDL. The engagement lasted briefly, with the Indian Army maintaining heightened vigilance along the sensitive border region.
Officials, however, said it was not immediately clear whether the Pakistan Army was behind the firing, or it was terrorists hiding in the forests and waiting for an opportunity to sneak in.
Security officials confirmed that no personnel were injured, and no material damage was sustained on the Indian side.
