Maha Kumbh 2025 LIVE Updates: Devotees and sadhus from all over India are gearing up to take holy dip on the occasion of Basant Panchami Amrit Snan in the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela on Monday, February 3.
The crowd for the Basant Panchami Snan is already swelling, with nearly 90 lakh devotees having taken a dip in the Ganga and at the Sangam by 12 pm on Sunday.
The Maha Kumbh is drawing millions of pilgrims daily and has so far recorded over 33 crore visitors. The mega religious congregation of humans started on January 13 and will continue till February 26. Basant Panchami marks the third and the final Amrit Snan date at the Kumbh. Two more special snans are on February 12 (Maghi Purnima) and 26 (Mahashivratri).
Top officials at Prayagraj are geared up to follow Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s “zero error” directive for Monday’s ‘Amrit Snan’ (holy bath) at the Maha Kumbh on the occasion of Basant Panchami.
The state government has also put into place a special crowd management plan named ‘Operation Eleven’ for the mega event. The plan ensures a “one-way traffic route” for devotees and smooth movement on pontoon bridges. To prevent overcrowding at the Triveni ghats, additional police forces have been deployed and barricades have been increased.
The heightened measures have been put in place as part of the state government’s “zero-error” programme for the Basant Panchami Amrit Snan in the wake of a stampede at Sangam on Mauni Amavasya which claimed at least 30 lives and left 60 pilgrims injured.
