N Kayisii, the sitting Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Manipur’s Tadubi constituency, died on Saturday at the age of 58 after a prolonged illness.
He was residing at his official residence in Imphal at the time of his death.
Kayisii was an influential figure in Manipur politics, serving as the President of the National People’s Party (NPP) in the state since March 2021. He also held the position of Minister for the Tribal and Hill Areas Department and Fisheries from 2017 to 2020.
First elected to the Manipur Legislative Assembly in 2017, he was re-elected in 2022 as a representative of NPP.
Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh extended condolences to the family of MLA N Kayisii.
In a post on X, Singh said “I am deeply saddened by the passing of Shri N Kayisii, the respected MLA of Tadubi AC. His service to the people of Manipur and his commitment to the well-being of our state will always be remembered.”
“At this moment of grief, my heartfelt condolences go out to his family, loved ones, and all who held him in high regard. May his soul rest in peace, and may we honour his memory by continuing the work he was so passionate about” he added.
