The Rajasthan government has approved a bill in the state assembly to change the Hindi designation of university Vice-Chancellors from ‘Kulpati’ to ‘Kulguru’. The English title will remain ‘Vice Chancellor’.
This decision was one of several key initiatives approved by the Bhajan Lal Sharma-led state cabinet on Tuesday. The government will bring the Rajasthan Universities Laws (Amendment) Bill to implement these changes.
Other decisions by the cabinet include introducing a new textile and apparel policy, a data centre policy, and a logistics policy aimed at promoting industrial and economic development in the state.
The government also approved a new youth policy to achieve the goal of a developed Rajasthan by empowering and enabling the youth, officials said. It also decided to introduce the Rajasthan Land Revenue (Amendment Validation) Bill to accelerate the development of RIICO industrial areas and amend personnel welfare and service rules.
According to Parliamentary Affairs Minister Jogaram Patel, who briefed the cabinet on the decisions, the state government aims to establish a global manufacturing hub in the textiles and apparel sector, with the Rajasthan Textile and Apparel Policy-2025 moving in this direction.
The Rajasthan Data Centre Policy-2025 will encourage the establishment of data centres in the private sector in Rajasthan, aiming to develop a world-class data centre ecosystem in the state and make Rajasthan a major destination in the data centre sector, the minister added.
The minister further stated that the Rajasthan Logistics Policy-2025 was approved by the cabinet to promote industrial development in the state and reduce logistics costs by enhancing connectivity.
A proposal to amend the Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha Secretariat (Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules-1992 and add a new entry to create the position of chief editor in the Rajasthan Vidhan Sabha Secretariat was also approved by the BJP government.
