In order to achieve stunning hair, you need to firstly focus on ingredients that nourish, strengthen, and add shine along with applying products to the scalp and hair.”
Dr Kochhar shares a few ingredients and recipes that could benefit your hair:
Coconut Oil
Coconut oil is the best oil for your hair and scalp. It gets easily absorbed; it acts as excellent moisturiser. It also adds shine and strength to your hair.
DIY Recipe: Mix 2 tablespoons of coconut oil with 1 tablespoon of honey. Apply the mixture onto your hair focusing on the ends. Leave it on for 20-30 minutes, rinse and shampoo as usual.
Avocado
It is a great source of biotin, minerals and healthy fats that are essential for the growth and health of the hair. Biotin helps lock moisture in the hair protecting it from any potential damage.
DIY Recipe: Take 1 ripe avocado and 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Mash the avocado until smooth, then mix in olive oil. Apply evenly from root to ends. Leave on for 30 minutes, then rinse, shampoo, and condition.
Aloe Vera
Known for its moisturising properties, aloe vera gel helps with relief from dandruff and provide intense moisturisation.
DIY Recipe: Blend ¼ cup of fresh aloe vera gel and 3 drops of peppermint essential oil. Massage the mixture into your scalp for a few minutes. Let it sit for 20 minutes before rinsing and shampooing.
Yogurt
Yogurt is an excellent source of protein and probiotics. It helps moisturise, reduces frizz, and adds shine to your hair.
DIY Recipe: Mash a ripe banana and add 2 tablespoons of yoghurt. Apply the mixture onto your scalp and hair, leave it on for 20 minutes. Do it twice a week. Rinse off and shampoo as usual.
Honey
Honey has properties that add moisture to the hair follicles. It naturally smooths the hair and restores shine and lustre to frizzy, dry, curly hair.
DIY Recipe: Mix 2 tablespoons of honey and 3 tablespoons of fresh aloe vera gel. Apply the mixture to your scalp and hair, massaging gently. Leave it on for 30 minutes, then rinse and shampoo as usual.
