A cylinder explosion during roadwork injured a 24-year-old worker in Tharamangalam, Tamil Nadu’s Salem district, on Friday. The victim, Madhavan, suffered injuries to his leg and was rushed to a government hospital for treatment.
The incident occurred during a four-lane road construction project between Omalur and Sangagiri. Workers were painting divider lines on the stretch when a vehicle carrying painting equipment caught fire.
While attempting to extinguish the flames, a cylinder in the vehicle exploded, injuring Madhavan.
A CCTV footage from a nearby building captured the explosion, showing workers rushing to douse the fire before the blast. A couple of people narrowly escaped the explosion.

Konganapuram police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the blast.
